After the iOS 15 update, when I access significant locations it tells me that I have 88 recent locations but gives me no date or time detail. Where did this information go? Has Apple deleted this feature with the most recent iOS update? Please respond with a definitive answer or let me know how I am incorrectly accessing this data. If this feature was deleted or changed in the recent update, why was no warning given about this?

Sorry but it’s been disabled by Apple,

Contacted Apple who responded with this:

I understand. Steven currently significant locations doesn't not provide the details of each location, this information is a background information for the system to remind important action you did with your device, like pictures taken in that location or similar. Well what I am saying is that with this feature Your iPhone and iCloud-connected devices will keep track of places you have recently been, as well as how often and when you visited them, in order to learn places that are significant to you. This data is end-to-end encrypted and cannot be read by Apple. It is used to provide you with personalized services, such as predictive traffic routing, and to build better Memories in Photos.

Great feature disabled and no intention to restore it.

“We probably shouldn’t let the sheep see what we see.”

It was such a useful tool, it did freak most people out when I used to show them this. So I can see why there probably is an excel spreadsheet telling them it’s more profitable for the company’s image to just bury this further.

I don’t know who is in charge of this aspect of Apple but the last decade has pushed me away from trusting their feature updates and made me woeful to purchase new products.

Tim it is 2022, just give up already. It’s time for USB-C. 🤦‍♂️

Hey look, I have this same problem as I used the built in overview of significant locations in iOS.

Luck only told me to install the geofencing app Geofency several years ago, and I have continued to give the app access to all my locations moving from one iPhone to the next with sync to icloud. I installed it to experiment with geofencing, but I did not look into its ability to give me what I used the built in “significant locations” for, tracking work hours.

There we go again! In a world where I use to live, if I purchased something and it stopped performing something that it use to do it was called : broken. In this Apple world, Apple breaks my phone on purpose and I just have to accept it. Wow. What a frustratingly broken new world!

Has anyone seen an apology or an explanation for this loss of function?

Oh! I should have known; it probably is virus related...

Please M.Apple, fix our phones!

Just wanted to share I used the Significant Locations recommendation on my Mac as the user before me suggested. Just wanted to say that you need to select location services then scroll down to system settings and the detail button is next to that. It worked wonderfully and saved my billing sheet for work as well when I lost my work doc on a dreaded white screen. Saved me from having to make conservative guesses and losing a ton of time.

Unfortunately Apple has stopped providing this information and they have absolutely no intention to bring it back. After a week of trying to get an answer the agent said that they don’t believe it will be accessible to us again. Having said that Apple can still use it leak before.

couple options. 1 turn off significant locations. If enough people turn it off the it is possible they will re think their update (although with only 1500 or so people hitting the “me too” button I don’t think it will change.

option 2. Find a third party app such as Google maps to track your location and times.

No idea why Apple stopped providing this information

Tried to set up Google Maps. That did not work. Shows no history of places on the Timeline. I would pay for a third party app that did this Signification Locations history thing. All the apps i have looked at have way too many whistles and bells.

I have an iPhone 13 and a MacBook running BigSur. I can go on the Mac and see the Significant Locations (although a week old) and will not upgrade to Monterey yet because I do not want to lose this access at least.

I apologize for the tone of my comment.

I don't expect Apple to make my wishes come true.

Significant Locations worked fine in IOS14. I used it for tracking time spent on different job sites for invoicing projects. It was simple and worked fine.

I now use my MAC to log my phone significant locations. It sort of works but is a day or two behind.

Tried to set up Google Maps

as some here have suggested but it would not work for me.

Its my information, its in the Cloud, its encrypted end to end, i should be allowed to access it.
