Double click menu bar does not fill screen with application

Using Big Sur on iMac 27". Previously could double click the menu bar the application would grow to fill the available space with a menu bar and dock still visible. Now double click does nothing. I read the previous mentions on this subject and tried all the different switch settings but none worked or restored the functionality that existed previously. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to get Bug Sur to behave as previous OS's did?

iMac 27″, macOS 11.6

There was no difference. I did try something else and it worked. I unchecked the box for “double click….” and exited preferences. Then went back in and checked the box and set it to zoom. Now it is working. Seems like the setting is not really set in preferences unless you force it. This is a new machine as well so most likely the place where this data bit is empty until you actually force iOS to save it. Problem resolved. Thanks for working with me.
