If you have a VPN App or profiles installed, or a security App such as Norton, these may be interfering with DHCP and preventing your device from obtaining a valid IP Address for your network. The resolution is relatively simple; may only need to temporarily disable or remove Norton Security and/or VPN.

DHCP is frequently used to automatically obtain an IP Address from your WiFi Router. Until your iPad has a valid IP Address to connect to your network, you will not have an internet connection. Disabling or removing VPN and/or the offending security App should allow DHCP to operate normally - allowing connection to your network and the internet.

If this resolves your issue, the VPN and/or security App can be reinstated after the connectivity problem has been resolved.

Many reports here of iPads that will not connect to WiFi/Internet after the iPadOS 15 upgrade, no matter what is tried.

Possibly a bug.

Try everything listed below.

After any iOS/iPadOS upgrade/update, you should ALWAYS perform a simple hard reset of your Apple mobile device.

For older iPad models with a Home button, do a simple hard reset of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake/power button simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons.

OR

For much newer, larger screen iPad models, without a Home button, try the new simple hard reset procedure for the new 2018/2020/2021 iPad Pros and the 2020 iPad Air 4 models.

1. Press and release the volume up button.

2. Then immediately press and release the volume down button.

3. Then, press and hold the single sleep/wake/power button You will see the Slide to Power off button, but keep on holding down the power button until you see the Apple logo, then let it go.

Once you have performed all the steps, wait for a few seconds and your 2018 iPad Pro will boot up completely to the iPad Pro’s Lock screen.

Use a VPN? Try, temporarily, disabling the VPN

Then, do a simple reset of the Home wireless/WiFi network MODEM/router box by unplugging from power for 15-20 seconds, or so.

Then re-plug into power and let the MODEM/router box simply re-cycle itself.

Best of Luck to You!

You are very welcome.

Reactivating the Norton 360 VPN shouldn’t cause loss of network connectivity - as the DHCP handshake that assigns an IP Address to your iPad has been successful. Upon expiry of your DHCP lease, if the problem were to recur, you already have the solution.

At a technical level, the VPN App is a network extension. Without delving into the intricacies of the network stack, your iPad found itself in a viscous circle; you simply had break the loop.

The Norton 360 App was inhibiting all network traffic until the VPN tunnel was established; the DHCP handshake, necessary to obtain an IP Address and allow the VPN tunnel to be established, couldn’t complete due to DHCP being blocked by Norton.

This has the ring of truth. Have used Apple products since "80's. On rare occasion someone will say "you know a lot about computers" then I say I don't know anything about computers, I use Apple products! But a few years ago I did experience what I guess was a "Trojan horse" download that drove me do get some sort of proactive app to try to protect against such.

I naturally assumed that you were using the most recent version of the App.

The App doesn’t necessarily enable a VPN, however, the network extension has the appearance of such to those that do not necessarily understand how the App is designed to operate. Whilst other network defences are available at low or no cost, Norton provides much of what can otherwise be achieved in a simple to use App. If you have a PC or Mac - and a multi-user licence as is common for this product - it costs nothing to use.

Be mindful of neigh-sayers that do not necessarily comprehend the threat landscape. Use of these products are a matter of personal choice; whilst efficacy of the Norton product may be a matter of debate, perhaps importantly, it doesn’t reduce the security of your device and does add a useful layer of protection.

It doesn't necessarily mean your data privacy is secure and protected, either,

Nothing online is security proof and many other avenues to get one's personal data.

I am going to continue to NOT advocate the use of any VPNs, to any user who posts here that is using such a service.

I am completely skeptical of the overall effectiveness of these service. to deliver on their promises of data security.

Just letting you know.

I will continue my course of advice on thus.

You do not need any antivirus apps on any Apple IOS devices.

Don't use a VPN!

Why do you think you need to be using a VPN?

These services have NOT proven themselves to be anywhere near 100% safe nor secure, in protecting your data and privacy.

VPN services CAN still be hacked into to get any and all data pouring through the VPN sevice.

None of these VPN services are security proof! None!

If you stop using a VPN, you will eliminate this main cause of your Wifi connection issue.
