Apple TV movie has sound but no video

I recently bought a movie from iTunes that included the theatrical and extended version. When I try to watch the movie the extended version plays fine but the theatrical version only plays sound. I tried it on my 2021 iPad Pro as well as my iPhone 12 Pro both running iOS 15. The only way I can watch that version is through airplay. Any suggestions?

Deleting the dowloaded movies and re-downloading them did the job for me. It seems there was a bug or something with the new iOS 15 update. I had the same problem after installing it. Sound but no video.

Hi there Chameleon21,

Thanks for letting us know the steps you tried on both devices.

From the details you provided, along with the steps tried, it does seem to point towards a possible content issue with the theatrical version of that film.

We recommend reaching out to Apple Support and let them know what we found out, along with the steps tried. You can use this link to reach them: Get Support

Have a good one!

Hey there Chameleon21,

Let's work together to help get you back to enjoying the theatrical version of that movie.

We'd like to better understand what's happening, along with ruling out some basics:

  1. Which movie is affected?
  2. Has a restart of both devices been tried?
  3. Is there anything connected to either device when this occurs?
  4. Is this movie downloaded, or streaming?

Take care!
