Why is IOS 15 maps bad?

Don't trust it in Spain! We used it to get to Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. Directions had us get off the bus and walk half a mile. After walking for ten minutes we checked again and we were now .7 miles from our destination. Switched to Google Maps and the bus dropped us off across the street. There were several bus stops around the church and two metro stops on the same block.

Worse yet, we were coming back from Getaria, about an hour by bus outside of San Sebastian. Apple had us get off the bus that locals had told us would take us straight back to San Sebastian. We got off, trusting Apple Maps after three stops rather than the locals. We walked a quarter mile to another bus stop to find that the next bus from that stop to San Sebastian would arrive in an hour. While at that stop, my wallet was stolen.

I've taken Apple Maps off my home screen, and will rely on Google Maps and Waze from now on.

Yes, I can confirm that iOS 15.1 has serious problems with it's Maps app. The most significant in my opinion is the removal of the voice "repeat directions" feature. In iOS 14 you could just double tap the black turn-direction box in the upper left corner and the last direction given would be repeated.

Now when I click the box nothing happens! Instead I have to pick my phone up and visually look at the next turn. Much easier (and safer) to just hear a voice repeating what the next turn should be in case you miss it.

I have a growing list of deficiencies in iOS 15. Very disappointing. I'm seriously considering Android for my next phone.

Apple Maps is as bad as Google Maps was when I stopped using it. I exit a freeway and it doesn't tell me whether to turn left or right. Other times, it tells me to exit the freeway, then get back on it. Or it puts me on routes that show blue and they are bumper to bumper traffic. Route times are wildly inaccurate. Plus it shows multiple routes and when it's plugged into my Carplay, I can't tell which one I'm on. It's super confusing. It worked perfectly on my iPhone 8, but it's horrible on my new iPhone. It must be a new version of the software. I hate it and am going to try using Google or Waze again - can't be worse than Apple maps now.

When is Apple going to fix the map problem?? It was so good in IOS 14. PLEASE fix it!!!

I’ve noticed map data is now at least 4 years old with iOS 15, on iOS 14, it was about 2 years old. My across the street neighbor who moved in 4 years ago, his house is now a vacant lot, no dirt work has even started.

Exactly same issues. I am having lot of issues since iOS 15 update. Even find that lot of businesses are misplaced, the direction are worse than it used to be… the other day ended up driving into a mall from the side oposite you the real entrance.

I would hate having to come back to google once again, as I like the look and feel of Apple maps…

iOS15.1 Map is outdated by at least 6 years. I bought a rental home and had many trees cut away from roof, added large shed and added a paver patio in Oct. 2016. Map updated and it goes to previous owners in Spring’16. Current home, road or neighborhood isn’t on “new update” our current home was built in 2017 and doesn’t exist according to Apple

I was so happy with IOS 14 Apple Maps. Unfortunately, I'm going back to Google, which isn't nearly as good as the previous Apple Maps, because the IOS 15 Apple Maps is SO BAD! Apple, when are you going to fix this problem?????

I agree! We live in northern Wisconsin and travel up to the UP quite a bit. Half the locations we frequent weren’t on the new mapping. I have bragged about iPhone mapping for years. We log over 6000 miles just traveling for pleasure. Now it makes me want to ditch this crappy phone!

Tried Apple Maps this weekend (issues w/Google Maps & account update). HORRENDOUS!!! Maps did NOT 1) track a long back road whose name changed repeatedly over 50+ miles 2) did NOT indicate when I'd made a wrong turn on confusing road name changes 3) did NOT give correction info -- just "pursue route" or some such.

I found myself invoking Steve Jobs as I was sent 100 miles out-of-the way & along highways through main streets.

STOP trying to catch-up to Google Maps unless you do it right.

HONESTLY, I've had a few issues w/Apple over past 30 yrs, but Apple maps? When I needed to rely on it? Stunningly awful. PULL THE APP until you can relaunch when it is right/functional!

Well, I used the Apple Maps app over the holiday and all of a sudden it was working properly for me. Gave me directions ahead of time . . . told me which lane I should be in . . . etc. Worked great. I don't know what happened but maybe there was an automatic update of which I was unaware? But I was in a metropolitan area and not using any back roads, so I can't speak to its effectiveness in rural areas.

I used to love Apple Maps and didn’t like Google maps because I didn’t find it to be as easy to use. But now I don’t know what the **** is going on in Apple Maps. It wasn’t broken… I wish they hadn't fixed it. And of course, I am having to “re-learn it” while I’m driving down the road! I recently went from Florida to Colorado and back and completely turned off Apple Maps and used Waze. I think I’ll be switching to that permanently.

I am frustrated with the new update (15.1). In the past I was able to open the map in my contacts and get directions from their location to a location of my choice. I would use this when planning to be nearby to calculate stopping in if the distance was manageable. Not now. It will only give directions from my present location. It appears this update has affected all map apps!

Why would Apple update to subpar navigational tools?

Don’t you think would be a good idea if they read their own website why should we have to write Warren peace all the time to get a reaction? Do you really think they were going to listen to you anymore they’re trust me I’ve tried.
