Unable to add music to iTunes on Window 10

My iTunes is completely updated and I have never had this issue before. I cannot drag and drop MP3s, nor can I add them using the "Add to library" feature. I have already tried the "automatically add to iTunes" trick, and all my MP3s ended up in the "not added" folder. I checked the security on the files, nothing amiss, and they play just fine on the Windows media players so I know they are not corrupted.

Side note that I'm not sure is related: iTunes will not recognize my iPod (gen 7) most of the time I plug it in, and it keeps asking me to trust my computer. It is also experiencing the "ios 15 stuck in preparing" bug that seems to be running rampant.

I'm not thrilled with Apple and its products right now. Can anyone help me?
