iOS 15 Focus Status not working

I have set my Focus Status as disabled for when I enable Do Not Disturb.

However, on iMessage my friends are still being notified that “Ben has notifications silenced”

why is this happening?

I had this issue as well. I have multiple apple devices and this focus notification is shared across all devices. I spent days trying to figure it out and then I did. My iPad Pro was still in the focus mode “Sleep”. Once I turned it off, the notification that my notifications were muted went away. I hope this helps!

Not sure if you're still having this problem, but make sure to check all of your Apple devices' settings for Focus. My mom was having this same issue and changing the status on her iPad ended up fixing the issue. She has an older model iPad, so not sure if that was the problem; but in order to change the setting on her phone, she had to turn on the Share Across Devices setting. Even when showing disabled she was having this issue.

I found a fix that may help until an update solves the issue. Open messenger, tap on a contact, tap on the contacts name at the top center of the screen, scroll down and turn off share focus status. Although very cumbersome and time consuming it should get rid of the notifications silenced message for that contact. Repeat with other contacts. Hope it works for you

I am having this issue as well. I have been having the issue ever since I updated my MacBook to Monterrey in January. I have an iPhone 13 which came with latest iOS 15, and I have updated it regularly. I have spoken with multiple folks at Apple Support including SENIOR advisors. The most information I have received is that they are aware of the glitch/bug, and the only way it can be fixed is through an update. I thought it might come in some of the latest updates, but it was confirmed to me on a recent call that it was not because Apple is still "investigating" the issue. This is completely unacceptable. People think I have had DND for months. A way around it though that has worked for me more recently is setting Emergency bypass on for certain contacts. Notifications come through for people despite this issue. I hope this helps yall. Apple better finish its investigation on this soon and address it. I totally regret even having Monterrey, but that's a different story.

Hi there Benh4597,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. Thanks for reaching out to us with this issue you're having with the Focus Status on your iPhone. We're happy to help. Have you disabled Focus in Messages? If not, go to Settings > Messages, and switch Focus to off under "Allow Messages to Access". Let us know if this helps you.

Use Focus on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Have a great day!

This is not helpful! We cannot fix the issue that it’s showing we have our notifications silenced to contacts. It shows focus is disabled, there is no crescent moon showing I have do not disturb on, and yet my contacts are still getting the message and have to hit notify anyway when they try and message me. I am so not happy with this bug
