Lossless/Dolby Atmos Apple Music on Echo Studio

I appreciate this question has been asked within another thread (no longer available to reply), and I appreciate Apple may not reply either.

As a user and owner of Homepods and Echo Studios I wish to know if anyone has worked out if Apple Music Lossless/Dolby Atmos is supported by Echo Studio. Amazon support don't know.

As there is no function to use either the iPhone or Android Apple Music apps in the similar way Spotify Connect does, I can't find away to confirm if this is supported on the Echo Studio.

Has anyone found an answer to this?

I've been searching the internet for the same answer for the last two months, since I bought my Echo Studios. I love Apple Music, it's my primary service and I have been wondering at what quality and bitrate Apple streams music to the Studios.

Amazon Music and Tidal both stream in lossless to the Echo Studio, both confirmed through their respective support services.

Best I have been able to find about Apple Music is anecdotal information on internet forums, which say that while the Echo Studio can play lossless from Amazon Music and Tidal, Apple Music is limited to 256kbps AAC on every device that isn’t a compatible iPhone, Mac, iPad, or Apple TV.

This appears to be because Amazon and Tidal use FLAC for their lossless, and Apple uses ALAC.

Deezer is compatible with Alexa and the Echo Studios, but they choose not to stream in lossless even to their HiFi subscribers, instead sending their "Premium" quality, 320kbps MP3. This was confirmed by deezer on their community forums. (Their HiFi format is 16bit/44.1kHz FLAC).

Apple Music sounds phenomenal on my Echo Studios and I am perfectly happy even if they are choosing to stream at 256 AAC.

Spotify streams at 320kbps OGG Vorbis to the Echo Studio. That may change when, and if, they ever roll out their HiFi tier.

Qobuz is not compatible, other than bluetooth pairing.

It sure would be nice if Apple could just let us know. It's not a dealbreaker for me, even if they are choosing to stream at 256 AAC. Apple Music sounds fantastic on my Echo Studios, I am perfectly happy with the sound quality and the smooth streaming, support of personal playlists, artist radio, and other features.

Additionally, Tidal and Amazon Music are the only two services that I have ever had streaming issues with on my Echo Studios. It may be that those bitrates are problematic. Deezer may be aware of this, and that's why they chose to stream at a lower rate. Spotify may also be trying to work out this aspect before rolling out their Hi-Fi, since they stream in Wi-Fi through Spotify Connect.

All told, I would rather have smooth, problem-free streaming before higher data rate, but it would be nice to get an answer.
