Memory Video - Export Failed (There was a problem trying to export this memory)

Device: iPhone11 ProMax / Fully updated OS / Loads of free storage

This morning my phone presented me with a lovely video memory of a holiday two years ago.

I selected a few more images from the holiday and reviewed the video. It played well.

I then tried the share the video via Whatsapp and encountered the "Export Failed" error. So I tried to save the video to the gallery and got the same error.

I then replayed the video, favourited the video (for easy recall) and re-started my phone.

Yet again the phone gave me the same message when I tried to save/export the video. I attach a screenshot herewith.

I see another user:Veggiemama48 has reported the same issue without resolve. Please do assist us.

Best, Fred

Same issue here. Why bother creating so great memories if you can’t share them with anyone!!

Apple please fix this problem ASAP

Same problem.

To create a movie memory, I usually add the photos and videos I want from my gallery, create an album and from there I create to movie memory.

Once created, the only place I have be able to export to is shared album. From here, I have been able to download the movie to my gallery. Not an ideal solution, but until it’s fixed…

I am struggling to edit my videos and photos in the memory, like the previous way you could. If anyone knows how? Such as select a specific part of a video or remove sound from a particular clip.

I am not happy that I can not add my own music either! Unless you have an Apple Music subscription. Even though previously, you could purchase iTunes songs and add them to your video. Tut tut Apple!!! I don’t want a subscription.

Had the same problem and figured it out. After you open the memory, you have to click on the 3 dots in the upper right and click manage photos. In my case it told me I had to save some photos before I continued. I think memories will pull pictures from messages or WhatsApp for suggested memories, but unless you save them to your photo gallery, you can’t export. Once I saved the photos it prompted me to, it exported just fine.

Check your mobile network settings and make sure photos has permission to use mobile data. Or make sure you are on WiFi when you export. This solved the problem for me. I could watch the video when not using WiFi, but when I tried to export I got the error. I have not had the error since I’ve allowed photos to use mobile data.

Pardon my language but f*ck’n halleloooooo!!! 🙏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 I went in after several attempts at the other suggestions, and I simply selected more photos for the memory from the potential options it gave me. And THEN attempted the export. Success! Sooo happy to share the growth of my little one over time with others now 😍😍

Just got help in iMessages from Apple support. I’m on an iPhone 13 Pro Max. This did the trick. Good luck everyone. He called it a hard restart. my screen turned pink which freaked me out but when it rebooted, the Save Video option worked again.

1 Press and quickly release the volume up button.

2 Press and quickly release the volume down button.

3 Press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.
