Open your Applications/Utilities folder and open the Keychain Access app.
When the app opens type in the name of your E-Mail provider
The keychain window should show your e-mail address for that provider
double-click on it and another window will open.
In that window there is a 'check' box for Show Password,
check the box (click in it) and you will be asked for your administrator password
enter it and press Return.
The password for your e-mail account should now display.
If all else fails go to the website for your e-mail provider and reset the password.

Who is the Mail Server for your e-mail?? If not Apple iCloud Mail as Server - suggest logging into the Mail Servers webmail and use the password you think it is. Can you log in ??
If Apple iCloud Mail - it is normally associated with your Apple ID and that password.
thank you for the reply, much appreciated.
i cannot log-in to their webmail (34sp.com) since i do not remember the password, that's why i was going into my macmail preferences on my imac to try to see it, but all it's showing me is "•••••••••••••".
so i'm going around in circles ;-)
When you visit that Mail hosting site and attempt to sign in with the wrong password, is there not a link to "Forgot your password?" that you can click on to have them reset your password, send you an alternate email, or text msg with a code, and upon entering that code on their website, allows you to enter a new password?
Yes I see, this is a Web Host site for your personal Mail Server.
Check in your local Keychain
It appears to be a Web Hosting site for personal Mail Server.
I see I suppose they should contact the support site then.
