Is there a way to freez third party plugins to share logic project ?

Is there any way to freeze all plugins! So that a second person who does not have vst serum plugins can play the sound from the frozen plugin and just mix it? No one will lose anything on the CPU and it will even save memory and you can keep working.

There should be a way to do this instead of ripping/boucing stems! Terrible idea with freeze option! it is 2021 they could more professional i think! It is not as it should be! It's good for apple community who use Logic Pro !

I like having a project! There are 100s of tracks to freeze plugins! Apple can force all vst/synth makers that work with the Mac platform to adapt their software without even licensing those plugins! Just make a special option to freeze plugins! with the possibility to play the designed sound for producers who don't have this synth! This is a better option than mixing stems and recording tracks.

I could just mix it and send it back! with low CPU usage! like with stems project!

Hi,

In Logic when you freeze a track it can be played by another party who does not have the soft instrument (if a MIDI/Soft Inst track) ) or plugins. They still can mix the track ( pan, level, aux busses ) but they cannot adjust or change the source instrament or plugins depending on the freeze mode. If they unfeeze they will not be able to play the track since the plugins are now active. From the documentation here are the Freeze Modes:

  • Source Only: Freezes the track signal without any effects plug-ins. When selected, the Freeze button appears blue. This Freeze mode is useful when using processor-intensive software instruments or flex modes.
  • Pre Fader: Freezes the track signal including all effects plug-ins. When selected, the Freeze button appears green.

As for the ability to use a third party plugin without a licence that is on the third party to implement and not Apple. Most third parties offer trial versions as a quick workaround.

Hope this helps.

Don

The capability you are asking for exists today. As noted above from the documentation: "Source Only: Freezes the track signal without any effects plug-ins. When selected, the Freeze button appears blue. This Freeze mode is useful when using processor-intensive software instruments or flex modes.".

If using a soft inst the souce is the MIDI track playing. Here are the steps:

  • Set the Freeze Mode to "Source Only". In the example below it is a soft inst that has a MIDI region.
  • Freeze the Track ( in the example below Inst 1)
  • Send the package to another logic user. They can open and will get warnings about missing instruments or plugins. The hit oaky doaky.
  • Disabled plugins have an orange "!".
  • DO NOT TOUCH the "Freeze" enablement, doing so will render the track active and non-functional since the plugin is missing.
  • Hit play.
  • Add an additional plugin ( in example Compressor ). Note the EMT reverb is not active so no reverb. When sharing this way limit to Logic effects plugins.
  • Save
  • Send back
  • Open and continue to mix away.

Hi

GSA-Records wrote:

It could help meybe use frozen plugins to mix without stems for other producers! who dose not have these plugins ! there no need to open plugin ! there is no need for serial key! you just recive file ! Mix Instrument ! like Serum ! without access to it! and you can send it back ! that's all !

If you load a "frozen" project where plugins are missing, Logic displays an alert message warning about any missing plugins, but the frozen track plays fine.

“Read what wrote! you can't use other programs! its on freez!“

yes, read what I’ve written.

The frozen files can be found in a sub folder “freeze file”. And if you just import the files into a new project, you are fine. No plugins are required. But the names are quite cryptic, though. This is why I always use the convenient “export tracks” function. Or sometimes “bounce in place”.

If you like to work in the original project and “unfreeze” the tracks, the freeze files disappear and the plugins are required again.

Alternative method that I prefer:

After successful freezing your tracks, the frozen tracks can be found in the sub folder "Freeze Files" inside your project folder (assuming you organize your projects as folders).

These frozen tracks are uncompressed 32 bit audio files, which can be imported in in a new, clean Logic Project or in any other DAW.

For mixing engineers! Or anyone! Other person they mix project and after you finish, you can send it back to owner !
I can open it and vst will be back on! and all procesor other person mixed! !

Third party plugin should make kind of deal with apple to make it happen !

LOL.

Selling products is the business model of Apple and plugin vendors.

My advice: Find out about the different ways to transfer files to another person. This is part of the daily business in the music industry.

I want tracks continue playing sound! when tracks are on freez! without access to vst!

That's all! Just to add compressor mix it and job done. after you can send it back to owner! so he can continue!
