Usb-C to lightning cable to connect keyboard to iPad
I connected one end of usb-c to lightning cable to my iPad and the other end to a keyboard (without using any adapters). Can it break my usb-c to lighting cable? I mainly use it for my iPhone.
Apple Intelligence is now available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac!

Lightning in Lightning and USB-C in USB-C should be (damage-free) fine.
Working or not being another discussion.
You’d need a dongle or two to connect that iPad to a USB-whichever keyboard.
Or use Bluetooth.
Apple has some options, as do other vendors…

Various iPad Pro models have a USB-C socket.
Most (all?) iPad models have Lightning socket.

Apple sells a USB-C to Lightning cable, with a USB-C connector and a Lightning connector.
Apple also sells a USB-A to Lightning cable.
Many keyboards have USB-A connectors, some have USB-C connectors or USB-C sockets, and various Apple keyboards have Lightning sockets.
If you’re mismatching connectors and sockets, then yes, that can cause hardware damage.
As long as the USB-C connector went into USB-C on the iPad Pro and the Lightning connector into the Lightning socket on the keyboard, prolly no damage.
I’ve used the keyboard charging cables with a Mac with no issues. That’s the set-up and keyboard-charging configuration.
If this is a battery-powered Lightning-connected Magic Keyboard model keyboard that uses Bluetooth, try charging the keyboard and connecting with that.
iPad usually uses Bluetooth or smart connector for the keyboard.
Oh, but doesn’t the lightning connector go in iPad, and the usb-c to keyboard? I connected the end of the cable that connects to power adapter to the keyboard, that was the only way, but it obv didn’t work
Aha, the iPad that I’m using is 8th generation, not pro, and has a lightning socket, while the keyboard has usb-c socket, so that was how I connected the cable, it probably didn’t do any harm to the cable, but still just wanted to make sure, thank you
Prolly won’t break the hardware, but whether the Lightning-connected keyboard will work?
Yeah, it didn’t work, and then I read somewhere that I shouldn’t be connecting it in that way, so I got worried if it would break the cable
