Star symbol on apple music

So I believe the star symbol on some tracks of an album mean that the songs or certain songs are popular on that album---but I noticed recently it changed or that some songs changed which had the stars next to them. How often does it get updated and what do the stars actually mean?

Does it get updated weekly? Daily?

Do the stars mean popular as in what everyone on apple music is streaming or playing, as in certain songs? Do the stars mean people have "hearted" the song??

Cannot add star-rating on a newly purchased song I recently bought a song on iTunes. I have star-ratings on my iTunes library on the Mac enabled. I have purchased other songs on the same day and I can star-rate them. This particular one, the star are shown as "faded red" and cannot be selected, no matter the view. I tried to remove the download and re-download the song, but I still cannot rate the song. Yes, I have restarted the app, restarted macOS (13.2.1), and still it doesn't work. Why can I star-rate other songs but not this particular one I purchased on the same day?
