iPhone 13 Camera is blurry

Hello,

I’ve just received my iPhone 13 Pro and instantly noticed that especially the front camera quality in low light is horrendous. Coming from an iPhone X, the difference is literally night and day. The front camera seems to have some kind of beauty or over-smoothing effect on and the pictures really do look unacceptable. My colleague has the same problem with his 13 Pro Max and across the internet there have been multiple discussions about this.

I’m having the same problem. I took a photo of my son with the iPhone 11 Pro Max (where he is looking at me) and one with the iPhone 13 Pro Max (where he is in side profile). The quality is atrocious!!!

omg thanks god, I thought I was going crazy!

made the switch from an android just for the cameras…

been tweaking with the cameras settings for a few days and trying to understand if I’m missing something.

comparing pics I’ve taken with my old huawei p30 pro phone and my new iPhone 13pro, and the old one’s are way better made me doubt my decision.

New iPhone 13 Pro, I am shocked at what poor quality photographs this POS produces. I have visited all the online forums suggesting fixes by turning off all the settings that was supposed to make this photographic experience better. Turn off Auto Macro, done, turn off HDR done, change format to best suited, done. Still the photographs are shockingly bad. It feels like bad Len

alignment of post processing gone awry. I am taking mine back tomorrow. So disappointing and I am not alone. There are literally hundreds of complaints about how blurry, over processed and generally terrible quality this device produces. I will try a swap and hope I just got a bad one? Quality control?.? Or Downgrade to the iPhone 11 Pro which takes much higher quality images.

“It just works”, well no it actually doesn’t.

I restored my 13 pro hoping that would help but no. The version of camera/software combination is shockingly bad. It make me auestion the honesty, integrity and skill all the so called expert reviewers. A mostly the quality of the folks at apple pushing this 3rd rate iPhone as the next big thing. Apple use to stand by the motto “it just works”. Expensive *****. By the 11pro, side by side image examples in Adobe Lightroom are so different. 11 pro being the gar better device if you are looking for camera quality.

Hello ~ I myself have few problems with my iPhone camera. I also haven’t picked up my canon R6 in over a year as just too much of a hassle. My opinion the best camera is the one you have with you. If you don’t like that one sell it or throw it in a drawer then go out and get one that suits your needs. I certainly wouldn’t own a device that caused me so much concern.

So you prefer the 13 pro over the 11 pro? Selling it is questionable as we don’t know if it will get fixed with updates. Putting it in a drawer would be crazy for a fulltime student as me, working my *** of to finally replace my glitchy 7 with the “best iPhone ever” in the “year to go pro”. Glad I put some savings in a canon because I wanted to learn photography on a higher level. I will just take my 7 with me as it’s small (hoping it’s a software problem) and I don’t have the money to trow away 200/300 euro’s if I want to resell it…

Hello ~ Remember we here in this forum are users just as you are. We don’t work or “review” for Apple…that is made pretty clear when you sign up to use this forum. If you don’t like the camera or iPhone get something else. I have owned more cameras than I care to discuss and had some kind of problem with each one of them…. every single one of them. What I did was learn to work around each short coming or issue and if it were too much of a hassle…into the closet or junk drawer. I don’t have any iPhones in that drawer however. Complaining about it certainly does not solve one thing. Sell it and get something else. The people who help in these forums are volunteers like myself. I do as much as I can to help as many as I can every day. Thank you! That’s actually helpful. I do recognize that in a lot of scenarios it’s a better phone, but with the 7 ‘what you see is what you get’ meaning the picture won’t turn all blurry, over sharpened/contrasted, too light or filter like, maybe it’s indeed some batches of phones?

Also do you have tips to take the best out of it? Like I said, when I take a picture of my cat I want the whole cat sharp and most of the times her nose or ears aren’t, which can be fun if you focus on that deliberately but not if you want a general sharp picture.

13 pro is better in the dark outside but in low light? No, it smoothens and lightens everything (with or without night mode). And don’t even try the selfie camera at those lighting conditions now.

I just want a toggle for the processing and more consistency I guess.

I know that! :) Was just trying to show how sometimes the older phones are better then this super expensive one and that’s why people are complaining and looking for tips/explanations! Yours and dogcow-moof’s answers did make me want to play with it more after exams (and keep the 7 maybe sometimes to compensate). Will also get it looked after when I can!

Thanks both for taking the time to help!

Yes, people love to complain, and if you do a similar search you will find complaints about every camera on every phone Apple has ever released.

You can’t please everyone, but when it comes to phone cameras the 13 Pro’s are some of the highest rated available according to multiple independent reviewers and websites.

Yes, that doesn’t make a difference if it doesn’t do what you want it to do, but it is wonderful for most.

Hello,

I am facing the same issue with my iphone 13 pro max telephoto lens. I tried many settings to fix this issue but seems it is hardware problem, there is not much on internet about this issue, I started to think this is only in mind, but seeing your msg here, I am sure I have this problem too. Please let me know if you find any solution for it. Thank you very much.

Chao!
