iPhone 13 Camera is blurry

Oh, and before I forget it: it’s the same with the iPhone 14 vs 14 pro.

The normal 14 takes blurry close ups while the pro „magically“ uses the wide angle lens and some clever software tricks. The normal 14 has a wide angle lens too.

Semantics. You want to call it close up. Fine. Close up is Macro. And the iPhone you bought doesn't take close up photos, whereas the Pro models do. If close up photography was important to you, you bought the wrong iPhone.

The zoomed image is because if you go beyond 3x it is a digital zoom that loses resolution, as you state.

On the 13 Pro/Max take your photos using Macro mode, which takes close distance photos beautifully.

if you have a non-Pro/Pro Max 13, you're limited by what the camera system can produce, so if you need to take closeup photos, opt for the Pro/Pro Max.

The 13 and 14 have an ultra wide lens but do not support Macro mode due to differences in the camera mechanism between the Pro / Pro Max and “non-Pro” models.

Ultimately it is up to you to choose the phone with the features that best match your use case for it.

I find the photos taken by the Pro and Pro Max cameras to be sharp and detailed, and am quite happy with them, as are most review sites; you of course may feel differently and that’s why different companies offer different products to the marketplace.

Even if the iPhone were 100000€ it wouldn’t be right for everyone.

That’s the first actually helpful comment. Instead of shoving it all to „you just use it wrong/you chose the wrong device/that’s not apples fault“. More addressing why so many people could be mad. I mean… it’s not that we all decided to randomly be angry because we’re bored. It’s a specific issue we’re asking here and apple at least should leave a statement on why it is like that. Thank you.

And it’s really interesting that the pro of your dad is that good. Because comparing my mini with the pro max of my sister, it’s really hard to tell any difference. They’re basically identical. Apart of the macro setting the pro has of course. But that still looks bad. Do your dad also get surprisingly bad results when taking pictures in the supposedly beautiful and crisp macro mode with distortions and unsharp areas everywhere but in the middle of the picture?

Good to know there is no post processing in portrait mode. But in my case there is no zooming possible here. In that case I can also just use the normal mode and zoom in afterwards. Not very convenient tho. Zooming works with the 14 in portrait mode?

Among other things the iPhone 13 photo looks like it was taken in less light and wasn't focused.

it’s so sad but I’m experiencing same problem here, my daughter was sleeping, so she was competently still, and if you zoom you can definitely see that it’s a blurry picture.

The photo looks great, except focus is clearly peaked on the stuffed animal rather than the child.

What was the selected focus point for the second photo?

The lower portion of the Phone holder seems to be in sharp focus rather than the dash.

I truly want my 11 pro back. This camera is horrible. Night pictures are back to looking like I have an old 6.

Im also having the same issue with my 13 pro max. Just look at how blurry the remote is. The other photo is shot on iPhone 12 Pro Max. We did this multiple times and have same results
