Okay so I found a possible fix! I didn’t have Apple Music downloaded on my phone. I downloaded Apple Music. I went to Settings and I typed in EQ. Click that and I went from Late Night to Pop and it works beautifully now! Spotify no longer crashes CarPlay.

I confirm the problem is eq with late night.

I have a rav4 2019 and bought iPhone 13 pro. I’ve not configured eq as well as on the old iPhone. It means that late night is configured by default with new os.

I’ve disabled eq. now car play never crash.

12 here! Having the same issue. I turned of EQ and still have the issue. I can only get it to work if connected via Bluetooth. CarPlay itself will not work by plugging in via USB. I wish Apple would fix this already! I think it’s an iOS 15 issue. It clearly didn’t fix with 15.0.01.

iPhone 13 does not play music or have navigation with Car Play totally unavailable I have to turn everything off and only listen to sound out of phone speakers and map on phone even in auxiliary mode. Totally SUCKS!!

I have been having this same problem! But I have been going crazy because for the past 6 months or so my iphone XS Max randomly stopped connecting to car play. The weirdest thing was that my phone would not connect to my car, but would connect to other cars and other peoples’ phones would connect to my car! There was just a strange disconnect between my phone / car and I tried resetting everything. I was so excited to get the new iPhone 13. Got the new phone and car play works (wahoo), but any kind of audio from spotify or music crashes it every time!!!!! One weird thing is that my friend’s phone is also a new phone with iOS 15 but his music does not crash it!?!?! This is driving me crazy! Apple blames my car and Audi blames my phone! I tried the eq thing with no luck. Any more suggestions much appreciated!

I’m having the same problem, I don’t think it’s an iPhone 13 problem I think it’s an iOS 15 problem, I have an iPhone 12 and I recently updated to 15.1 like 3 days ago and my car just doesn’t play audio anymore but it was literally working MUNUTES before I updated. And none of the fixes have worked for me, I tried turning EQ on and off, nothing, I purchased THREE different songs on iTunes to see if that would work, nothing. And I’ve been reset my phone and nothing has worked, I hope apple release a fix for this because I have no idea what causing it.

I have the iPhone 13 Pro Max connected to 2021 BMW X3 (wireless). In my case, turning off EQ worked. I can pick any other option for EQ and it works, but not Late Night. I came from iPhone 12 Pro Max and had no issues using EQ Late Night even after I upgraded to iOS 15. A month later I got the 13 and CarPlay started to fail when playing Music. I now have EQ off, and frankly I don't miss my EQ setting at all. Same thing happened to my partner. Turning off EQ (or changing from Late Night) worked.

However, not all is fine with CarPlay. It stops working out of the blue, always while playing music; it disconnects and a few seconds later, it comes back in and keeps playing music, BUT it resets the ongoing route I may have on my navigation (Google Maps) and I have to start it again.

I have an 11 Pro and the same issues are happening with my Car Play, as of 4 days ago. I haven't updated to ios 15 yet and my EQ is turned off. There's something else going on here. My screen went completely black the other day, and now I can't access Car Play at all. :(.

Try the Eq again and shut down iphone for 5 min. If "no go" try to reset all settings .

Found a solution on the CarPlay subreddit, said to disable EQ setting preference. This fixed my issue. Give it a shot.

Double check the EQ option. I had it off as well but some how it was turned back on after the restore.

Yeah I have same issue. I turned off eq and now it works fine. Turn off eq under music and see if that works.

Same thing! Except it’s Spotify that’s crashing! I’ve turned my phone off, I’ve deleted Spotify and re-downloaded it, and it still crashes…
