How to Watch Apple TV+ on TV

I recently purchased a Toshiba model 43LF621U21 from BestBuy. I see that FOUNDATION is being produced and shown on Apple TV+. Being an old fan of Isaac Azimov and having just a few years ago reread all 20 or so of the books in the entire robot/empire/foundation series, ordered Apple TV from Amazon and installed it on my TV. I opened Apple TV and attempted to open Apple TV+. The screen indicated that I could not order Apple TV+ from there but had to have ordered it from an Apple device previously.

The only Apple devices I have are a old iPod Touch and a old iPad. When I say old iPad I mean VERY old. It's running 32-bit and version 9.3.5. I tried to update the operating system but 9.3.5 is the best I can get. I understand that only the newest operating systems can get Apple TV+.

I'm both confused and not sure where to go from here.

I went to eBay and saw both iPads and physical Apple TVs for sale. My first thought was to buy an Apple TV but then I thought that having a more up-to-date iPad would be of more use.

Also, while I have an iCloud email address on my old iPad and iTunes, I bought my Apple TV app from Amazon where I have a gmail address. I'm not sure how that would complicate matters.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

No worries, an Apple device is not required to watch content from Apple TV+, though you will need a subscription to the service.

Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately, I've been through that page and nothing there is of any help.

My problem has been "solved'. A good friend mentioned that she just bought a new Apple iPad and has given her old one to me. I logged in with my iCloud credentials and downloaded Apple TV+. From there it was a slam dunk to get it on my TV using my Apple credentials.
