Apple pencil issue with tilt sensitivity

I have been using Apple pencil 2 on Procreate ( I only use my iPad for drawing) and I seem to be having constant issues with tilt sensitivity. It's extremely dodgy and persists even when pencil remains positioned 90° perpendicularly on the surface. After a while everything returns to normal, and remains until I tilt my pencil again.

In other words: my tilt remains active even when the pencil is no longer in tilted position, this results in much thicker lines on the surface than supposed to. This is extremely annoying.

I have scanned internet for a solution and I have found several other reports of this issue but no concrete answer on how and why and how to resolve i-this issue.

Can anyone here assist me on this please?

Thank you!

I watched your video.

For starters you iPad is appears to be standing up in portrait screen orientation and also, the iPad i a tilt angle thst might affect tilt sensitivity.

So, maybe this is throwing the tilt sensitivity off on the Pencil, as in your video, you never get your Pencil to tilt its tip to the side enough to get the tilt sensitivity effect.

Do you always use you iPad like this?

Have you tried laying your iPad down at a much shallower/lower angle to see if tilt sensitivity returns to the Pencil.

Have you tried using the iPad in landscape screen orientation and less steep angle to see if tilt sensitivity returns to normal?

Check that the tip of Pencil to make sure it is screwed down all the way and is snug, but NOT too tightly screwed down.

Also, make sure the tip is not worn at the very tip.

If you can see the top of the Pencil's metal transducer tube through the very tip of the Pencil ( the tip will look some sort of dark gray-ish brown color ), the the tip of your Pencil is worn.

Apple has a 4 pack of replacement tips for purchase.

Found here.

Hi MichelPM

I already did and I am awaiting feedback from Procreate team. Though, from what I gather It isn't a Procreate issue, the same issue presents itself with Autodesk Sketchbook and other drawing applications. It has been unsuccessfully reported on these forums before right here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252841485

Thank you for the Lucky wishes :)... I am going to need it!

Hi MichelPM

Thank you for your feedback :)

iPad and pencil are new, so no wear or erosion here.

Issue does persist in landscape mode, besides this is irrelevant as by conception an iPad is supposed to function in portrait as in landscape mode. iPad is advertised as a highly portable device.

I draw at 10°/15° angle and I do fail too see how laying my iPad flat would resolve this issue... I will never use it in low angle, horizontal position, that is uncomfortable. Once again, by conception the device is designed to be used under an angle.

This seems to be a technical issue that require further analysis ( I'm have an appointment in Apple Store) and I am afraid there will have to be an intervention by Apple.

Thanks for your advice! If you have any other practical tips, they are always most welcome.

I will update this thread once a solution has been found.
