Charging not available liquid has been detected iOS 15

I purchased two iphone 13 pros for my wife and myself yesterday. I set them up transferring information from old phones as well yesterday...

Today both of our phones have had a pop-up saying that "charging was not available because liquid has been detected in the lightning port...". These are brand new phones with new otterbox cases and have not been anywhere near any type of moisture.

In both cases each phone was using Apple charging cords and were each plugged into our vehicles using Apple CarPlay when this happened…?

Any thoughts?

Hi Macsterguy,

Thanks for reaching out using Apple Support Communities. Here to help.

We understand your concern regarding the alert that liquid had been detected in the charging port.

Apple does have a resource for this alert which we will link below. It states that if the device is not wet and the alert appears, there could be a problem with the charging cable being used.

If you see a liquid-detection alert on your iPhone

We would suggest trying a different lightning cable in the car to see if this is occurring with multiple known cables. If this only occurs in the vehicle but cannot be replicated in other situations, it would also be good to check for software or firmware update on the entertainment system in your vehicle.

If you are seeing this alert repeatedly, a direct support case with Apple would be best. The link below will assist you in starting a case.
