watchOS time display jumps forward on “wake”/wrist raise

I’m not sure if this is a new, undesired behavior but it seems that after updating my Series 6 to watchOS 8 when I raise my wrist to “wake”, the time display “jumps” forward to show the actual current time. My Watch is paired to a new iPhone 13 Pro. I don’t previously recall the time display being “stuck” in the wrist down position until I raise my wrist. (It seems to defeat the use of of the always on display.)

My default face is the Simple analog face but am seeing the same things on digital time faces. I’ve looked in Settings and don’t see anything that would affect this so if I’m missing something I’d be happy to know.
