HomePod mini unreachable / Home Hub not working

I've had my HomePod mini for 2 days and I am unable to get it to work as a home hub or set up any automations.

The home app on both my iPhone and MacBook has a warning saying "No Remote Access" and unavailable appears under the HomePod.

I can use Siri and stream music from Apple Music from the HomePod, however I cannot transfer calls from my iPhone to the HomePod or initiate or answer a call through the HomePod with Siri.

I followed the troubleshooting instructions which were to reset the HomePod and go through the setup several times, thinking I did something wrong, but this was no help.

I attempted to have a support call but was not able to book one as I am currently residing outside of the US. Any help to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

Reset HomePod - Apple Support by Pressing the top method, then set it up again

  1. Unplug HomePod or unplug the power adapter for HomePod mini, wait 10 seconds, then plug it back in.
  2. Wait 10 seconds, then touch your finger to the top of HomePod and hold it there.
  3. The white spinning light will turn red. Keep your finger down.
  4. Siri will say that your HomePod is about to reset. When you hear three beeps, you can lift your finger.

If you still see HomePod in the Home app after you reset it, then you'll need to manually remove it from the Home app.

  • all devices need to be on the same home wifi network and signed in with the same Apple ID

Check your emails, there should be a link to schedule a chat with a specialist for your new product

Hello, thank your for your response.

I attempted all the steps in these support links again this morning. Still no luck.

I even disabled the second 5GHz band on my router and reconfigured all connected devices to the 2.4GHz band to make sure they were on the same network.

The iPhone I'm using to configure is on iOS 15.0 (the most recent OS), iCloud Keychain is on, all devices are registered under 1 Apple ID as I'm the only apple user.

I've checked email as well. No offer of specialist set up for the HomePod. I also recently purchased a MacBook and iPhone and I received the setup email for those, however navigating through there it doesn't have a option for assistance wit HomePod

I’ve tried this a few times. No change.

It still says no remote connection, in the home app.

I thought maybe it was my wifi because the call function etc usually takes place o we wifi, so I took it with me to a friend’s place to see if it would set up there. No luck.

I’m wondering if it’s a bug with the new OS. I received it on the 25th so it would not have been used on any previous OS
