lightning to HDMI connector does not work

I purchased an apple lightning to HDMI connector to run a presentation off of my iPhone. I have a date to do the presentation using the customer's projector. I test it by taking the HDMI cable that is already in my TV and connecting the other end to this connector.

The TV says "no signal", even though there is a straight line from the iPhone>connector>TV

reboot TV, iPhone. Same result
