airtag location

my airtag doesn’t update its location every time i click on it like the iphone locations do. what’s the point of it if i receive the exact location every time i click on it?

Airtags are VERY low-power devices with a tiny battery (advertised to last abt a year); they only send their signal to surrounding un-paired “relay” devices periodically. (approx every 15m).

iPhones by comparison have “oodles” of power and require constant recharging.

do you know any tracking devices i can use that constantly update locations like iphones? i don’t want to rely on the airtag’s periodic updates if i lose my dog or wallet.

I see a lot of mentions of “Tile” devices, but I do not know anything about how their technology works, or their suitability for your applications.
