Would target disk mode see a non-mounting disk?
I want to rescue data from a non-mounting internal disk. Before I purchase the necessary dongles and cable, would target disk mode solve?

If the disk is not mounting, chances are Target Disk Mode won't work. However, if you purchase the cables and adapters from Apple and Target Disk Mode doesn't work, you can easily return them within 14 days.
Did you have a Time Machine backup?
