I have a A1312 with problems on the Hard Disk how can I save my data with Thunderbolt cable?

No, 2009 iMacs do not have Thunderbolt connections. You are likely looking at a mini-display port.


  • To recover your data you can use your Time Machine backup and connect it to another Mac and migrate your data.
  • Other than that you can remove the HD from the computer, put it into a USB enclosure and see if another Mac can read the data.
  • Third option is if the HD isn't totally toast you can use Target Disk Mode with another Mac to recovery data. Transfer files between two Mac computers using target disk mode - Apple Support
