Pages 11.2 - Find and Replace Not Working

For me not only Find&Replace does not work but also Find function does not work at all. Yes, if I restart the Pages it works.

But it looks like a new bug, because I used Pages for 3 years now and never happened but now is constant.

No need to quit pages in my experience. You just have to close and reopen the document and search will work for a while. Be sure you report this annoying bug to Provide Pages Feedback under the Pages icon at the top left. Maybe Apple will notice if they're not busy raking in billions.

Just solved today... simply dump Pages and install a new version via the App Store. Hope this helps you.

close every single opened document(until Pages quits), then reopening pages fixed for me.

I have same trouble yesterday, and Pages even crashed when I try to find backward. Full restart and open the one single doc helps, but it's temporary solution.

I have had the exact same problem. Nothing I tried made Find and Replace work again, until I saw some previous posts - closing all open documents before quitting Pages seems to fix the bug.

Searching my Pages documents is a big part of my workflow, and I was paging through the documents every day to find what I need these last few days, which is very time-consuming and not very Apple-like.

Unbelievable. To make "Find" work, you have to restart the app and can only have ONE document open? Unbelievable.

After using FIND on the first document, does it still work when you open a second document ?

Pages menu, first menu on left... provide Pages feedback.

If you are looking for a specific word, you need to advise the Find/Replace tool of that fact. And if relevant, case sensitivity.

These settings allow me to find and replace a single title-case word in my Pages v11.2 document.

I have the same issue — it's definitely not working at all in my version of Pages 11.2. Clicking the ">" makes no difference.

Am reporting the issue to Apple, suggest OP does the same, clearly a bug.

I'll just add to the obvious... Apple has not fixed this evidently common problem, which seems quite odd for a company that prides itself on customer support.

On my note, it's a complete waste of my time to have to -- several times a day -- quit Pages and then re-open all documents to re-enable an essential function.

Apple Support: Have you read this thread. Shame on you!

Applications : Pages... delete or remove (not sure how I did it but there is plenty of information as to how to delete an app). Once deleted, you go to the App store and then it is easy to obtain.

By the way, it is possible, it will misbehave at first, but persevere !

To me, none of the proposed solutions (though I didn't take the time to uninstall Pages in Safe Mode, I just uninstalled it, deleted several files from ~/Library, as well as the app itself) actually work LONG-term. They return SHORT-term functionality, but the bug seems to have "many lives", more than a cat :-); it simply reappears.

If you not done so yet, please register a bug report to Apple, but activating the Provide Pages Feedback under the main Pages listing in the menu bar.

Inexcusable! Makes me (well, not really) want to return to using Word, which has a well functioning Find/Replace :-).

I've been having this problem for a while too and just found this thread.

Here we are in Feb 2022 and it's still not fixed in Pages.

I'm not going to restart and jump through hoops because it's too disruptive for my overall workflow.

I've found that it works sometimes and not others. I haven't found any logic to its dysfunctionality.

I tried copying and pasting a document to a new one and then Find worked - but not always - and not always when reopening the new one.

It's a bug.

Get on it Apple.

Give us a quicker fix.

It's been too long now.
