Google Search Suggestions

Nth-ed. Just for the sake of hoping we achieve some sort of critical mass.

For the record, Safari is sending the requests to Google and it's getting an HTTP 200 OK response. And when I run the query it's sending to Google in Safari, Google does return the expected data.

Doesn't really help anyone here, but I just thought I'd throw that in for documentation purposes.

Now off to file a bug report...

Add me to the list, I noticed it wasn't giving me suggestions earlier, but it is for Yahoo! and Bing.

Also finding this frustrating as I have always used Google and prefer it. (Even though Bing is uncannily similar!)

+1 Google no worky.

I am positive it is a major conspiracy that spans every major corporation and worldwide government agency. We must put a stop to this.

same here - looks like it's a safari thing. apple v. google getting ugly.

At the bottom of the Google search in the image search page is a link " use basic version." This makes Google work as expected. I really hate the "new" page look in Google. It is rather unhelpful.

Same here. I only upgraded to 5.0.1 today so the update causing the problem is out. Thought it might be because I had Glims installed but after uninstalling it the search suggestions still aren't working for Google. Yahoo and Bing are fine though.

I re-installed Glims again and removed all Google sites from its search engine list and changed my default search engine in Safari's General prefs too, can't get any search suggestions now AND the Google icon still appears in the search field even though it's not even in the list of search engines to begin with.

Weird problem. Suggestions work fine on Google's homepage though.

Glad I am not the only one. I thought I might have had clicked some thing to set my safari doing bizzare things but seems that not the case. Why is Google doing this? Is this Google vs apple ? Just kidding 🙂

i'm going to piggyback here and say i'm experiencing the same issue. i also thought it was something i messed up so glad to see i'm not the only one. i upgraded to 5.0.1 when it first came out and it seems it was initially working, although i can't remember exactly when it stopped working. i only noticed yesterday. @ kurt weber - i assume you're just referring to the google images page? i tried your suggestion and it seems to have no effect on the search suggestions showing up in the standard safari search bar.

UPDATE: just as i was testing to see if yahoo/bing were working i switched back to google and now it's working too! maybe all is back to normal???

All back to normal for me too. Seems to be fixed.

No Google for me either on the iMac or Macbook - just noticed today - irritating

Works like a champ for me now.

I never did pay attention to the snapback feature, but it's still there.

Hm, glad to hear it's up and running for some, but it's still not working for me. Weird.

It is now working again.
