Google Search Suggestions

Working for me this morning. 🙂

Reckon it was a kink at Google's end that they sorted out.

I'm with you Marty. Working for me too so it must have been Google since we didn't receive an update.

(By the way...I just noticed your first and last name are the first names of little people actors. Coincidence?)

It's working again for me too.

Not working for me this morning, didn't notice any problem with it before. Works if you go directly to the Google page, works in Firefox (although the suggestions seemed awfully slow to me), but not working in Safari (and I'm still using 4).

Not working here as well..help please

Not working for me either... I hear upgrading to 5.0 might help, but I'd rather not. Why is it just now not working? Weird.

Please let us know if there's a fix!

Stopped working for me Saturday, then worked again Sunday morning. Just stopped giving suggestions as of about midnight, Monday morning, 8/9. Still getting search history below the grey bar in the suggestions drop-down window. There sometimes is empty space where the suggestions would be, sometimes not.

Important to say that I'm still with OS 10.4.11 and using Safari 4.0.5. Haven't added or changed anything. Good to know that the answer isn't for me to upgrade Safari and/or my system.

I hate intermittent problems! Hope someone here hears reply from Google. I've used it this way in Safari for years but will stop and switch from Google can't get it's act together -- or some other solution is found.

Not working for me in Mac Safari and Windows Safari. Working in IE, FF for Windows, Chrome for Windows. Strange.. So I also thought it is something Apple vs Google.. I was terrified by this..

Please, Apple & Google, don't destroy each other. As someone has said, it's like watching my parents fighting..

I too am using Safari 4.0.5 and it still is not working. Replaced all the caches and prefs with those from before it stopped working. Didn't help. Logged into my test account where everything is pure as the driven snow....didn't help. Yesterday I ran in a fully updated system with Safari 5 and it was working there.

One thing you can do is put the Google search URL as a bookmark in your Bookmarks Bar, then click it to bring up the regular Google search window, which still works just fine.

Not as convenient though.

Ditto. No dice for me on 10.6.3 and Safari 4.0.5. I updated to Safari 5, all fine (then quickly downgraded to 4.0.5 again, but that's a whole different story).

Bad Goopple.

PS Of course my Acer D150 with Safari shows suggestions fine. As do my FF/Chrome on Mac.

Just checked on a Macmini running SL and Safari 4.0.5. No Google search suggestions there, either.

So, is it an Apple vs. Google thing? Mighty irritating...

Just adding my name to the list of NON-functioning suggestion boxes. My friend and I are both on Safari 4.0.4 and 10.5.8. Suggestions work for neither of us. Lame!

I wonder if this issue is at all related to my Mail.app not collecting my Gmail anymore via POP. If switches to IMAP without asking me. Even after disabling IMAP in Gmail settings through the web browser, and Mail was forced to ask if I meant IMAP or POP, it keeps timing out and not getting any mail. I'm not alone here, either.

But I digress.
