Apple Music/iTunes

If I subscribe monthly to Apple Music will itunes work on my new MacBook? Or do I have to buy individual songs I want?

You can use Apple Music on your new Mac. See: Apple Music User Guide for Mac - Apple Support

Be aware that you can also still purchase music from the iTunes Store but the iTunes app has been discontinued and replaced on Macs. See: What happened to iTunes? - Apple Support
