How do I turn off the music in Photos memories? iOS 15

I hate the idea of not be able to turn off the music in memories. I have my own recorded music with my photos and would love to hear it, not some music over the top!

Please get the non music choice back asap!

I'm so disappointed with the iOS 15 changes to the Memories feature. Before this release, I've been using it daily. Now I'm forced to listen to the music and the photos are moving. I cannot simply see them one by one in my own pace without distractions, noise and animations. Really disappointed

This problem is more of Apple forcing their music products. I do not want your music selections or access to them. Please stop trying to circumvent my preferences and content restrictions by providing access that cannot be denied to albums I have not approved. This is supposed to be an “i” phone- I should be the one to choose.

So the apparent answer is to disable this functionality. Why on earth would I want music on top of a 10 sec clip of an incredible jam at a concert I was at ? If I want to create a photo stream with music that’s easy to do. I don’t get the need for Apple to shove that down our throats without a way to turn it off.

It’s yet another example of Apple deciding for users rather than allowing them to decide for themselves.

it’s also a further indication of a general dumbing-down by Apple, most noticeable recently in the removal of so much that iTunes provided before it morphed into the truly dreadful Music app.

Apple is a disaster. I used to use my own music - music from CDs in my itubes, old school, converted to MP3’s. Let’s just face it, we can complain as much as possible, but its a money making machine looking for revenue streams. It was a pretty disgraceful change.

I havent tried downloading the video and using other editing software but who wants to do that. It took 10 seconds before, was fun. Terrible decision.

It is unbelievable that we can't turn off the pathetic music on photo memories! Are you kidding?? For the amount of money we've all spent on your products, we should not be forced to listen to music we don't want so you can get a penny every time it plays. Wake up and stop pushing OS updates with changes that no one wants.

Agreed. the worst. and if it is no longer an option someone at apple should change all the instructions present on the internet now that imply it is possible. Too many unproductive changes with apples stuff. Waste of time trying to figure out if it's an error, if it's true, if it's a setting not showing up. Steve Jobs is looking down in dismay what has become of some things apple.

well I posted similar thoughts and related it to a similar event, and instead of receiving a hopeful comment from Apple, this is the new world order:

"We removed your post How do I turn off the music in Photos memories? iOS 15 because it contained rants or complaints that weren’t constructive. We understand wanting to share experiences, but these forums are meant for technical questions that can be answered by the community. "

In my experience it's very helpful to hear that others have a similar problem, and it's not related to your lack of expertise. Removing the post is hardly constructive.

That’s not fair. I find the music in Memories very intrusive. I have severe psychological issues, which life has chosen to leave me with, and it makes me very anxious when I see a selection of my favourite photos with a soundtrack of music I have no control over choosing. Please, please make it stop.

Please please will someone answer this with a constructive reply.

APPLE, please. let us turn off Memories and the silly music, which is so intrusive. I would love to compose my own music for my Memories.

the constructive reply is I'm glad you posted this. Lots of us have asked the same thing, and commented appropriately, and sign of the times, we were all told our posts were deleted/ violated community standards... Good Luck!

I hope Apple listen to this. I will say once again that I have Borderline Personality Disorder, (and 4 additional disorders), and photography is very important to me. I am unable to work, so my hobbies are my life, when I feel well enough to take part in them. 'Photos' in Mac OS and iOS is integral and very important, as its where I store all my photographs. I have 28,000 photos and countless videos too.

I have invested heavily in Apple products, because of reliability and excellent customer service since 2005.

However, this particular point, where I regularly receive 'Memories' with the strangest music playing along is disturbing to me an even offensive in some cases.

I understand it's just an algorithm which make it happen, but there should be a way to turn off the music and change the preferences so 'Memories' don't occur. I have people's names with a selection of photos and music, places with the same, weather, and so on, every day. So if I ever watch the Memory selection, I always turn the music off, as it makes me very anxious.

So please, Apple, do the right thing, and add more preferences so we have more control over our own Photo libraries. The thought of taking 28, 000 photos from Apple's servers and putting them somewhere else would be a complete nightmare. I already pay monthly for additional storage. Just give the people what they want. Thanks.

I hate the new behavior. The great thing about the Memories feature was that it helped discover old photos and awaken memories. The mandatory addition of music is cloying and obnoxious. It tries to force a mood, rather than letting a mood emerge. This is particularly true when the photos are of dead people and pets. The times depicted may have been good, and revisiting them is welcome, but they are also, often, bittersweet. I want to feel MY feelings, rather than having some AI chosen music trying to drag me in a different direction.

I imagine some people like it. I might even choose to try out Apple's musical selections, but I don't want it forced on me. Right now I still have the memories widget on my home screen. I still appreciate seeing photos, but I'm also frustrated and traumatized because I know that if I heed my desire to click through I'll be irritated by the unwelcome music.

I've submitted feedback about this on Apple's site. I hope others do the same, since the people who made product decisions don't routinely read things here.

It’s unbelievably arrogant of Apple to impose their limited choice of music. Silence is what I want when viewing a photo as a source for my watercolour paintings. The unwanted music Is annoying, and embarrassing in an art group as I scrabble for the volume button. PLEASE adjust the menu selection. to include “None”.
