Debating between basic IPad and IPad Air. Not sure if there is a huge difference in functionality. Use for taking notes at meetings, reading from Kindle and web serving/browsing.
Any thoughts from the group?

Functionality is much the same between the two models. In essence, you are comparing low cost of the iPad9 - versus performance and advanced hardware features of the iPad Air4.
If limiting your needs to those outlined in your post, then the cheaper iPad9 may be more appropriate to your stated needs.

For example, CPU and graphics intensive tasks (such as Photo and video editing) would benefit from higher performance hardware and the more advanced screen. If Gaming is of interest, then again you might consider the powerful option.
