External Drive not mounting with Big Sur 11.6

I just updated to 11.6 and now my external drive does not load. When I try to mount from Disk Utility, which actually sees the drive, I get this error....

(com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error 49153.)

This is extremely inconvenient as it's where most of my work lives and now I'm stuck.

This needs to be addressed immediately. Apple is literally costing me money right now.

Boot into Safe Mode according to Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

... and before you ask...

Yes, I tried a different port on both the Mac and the drive. Yes, I tried multiple cords. Yes, I plugged it into an older computer and it mounted fine and I was able to access the files within. Yes, it was working just fine moments before I decided to do the update.

Thanks for any new ideas that can be offered.
