Is fall detection reliable

I have had three falls, one of which sent me to doctor. None of these resulted in watch alert. The only time it has worked is when I’m starting my leaf blower or opening a stiff shed door latch. What have others experienced. Maybe I’m not falling correctly.

I don't know of a "correct" way to fall. Unfortunately there are no adjustments you can make. It is either on or off. As this article says:

Use fall detection with Apple Watch - Apple Support

"Apple Watch cannot detect all falls. The more physically active you are, the more likely you are to trigger fall detection due to high-impact activity that can appear to be a fall."

I my experience with my mother, fall detection is unreliable. She has fallen 3 times. One of them she was unconscious and never had the watch call emergency services. She is now in the hospital. Hopefully, she'll get out and if she does we'll change to a more reliable system. I'm disappointed as we specifically purchased the watch for her for the fall detection. Steve Jobs would be yelling at Apple right now. Can I get a refund?
