Keynote Narration recording problems.

I can record narration to my presentation okay from the start, but if I stop the recording, and then start recording again, the audio from this point is not recorded, yet all the slide changes and animation triggers are recorded.

I have 2 years experience using keynote and recording narration in this way without any issues, so this it is a recent problem.

Any suggestions would be very helpful!

Thanks for getting back to me.

It.s every time I record a narration, on each presentation. It's okay for the first 5 minutes, or until I pause, scroll back a little and start recording again. I have found another work around - if I hit record and then the pause button twice - once to pause and once to unpause - it records the audio fine. It's okay for the first few minutes so difficult to identify as a fault without a recording of suitable length, and with stops and restarts along the way.

I will remove keynote and reinstall and see if this helps.

Hello, Punchydude. Thank you for posting your question to the Apple Support Communities. We know that being able to use the narration features in Keynote must be very helpful to you, and we’re happy to help however we can.

From what we gather, you are only noticing this issue after you pause, and then resume recording. To get started, we would like to provide you with the suggested steps to use when recording narration with Keynote. If you haven’t already, please read over the following Apple Support article:

Record audio in Keynote on Mac - Apple Support

If the suggested steps above are not producing the expected results, we can help you more. To isolate this issue, can you tell us how you are recording the narration? Are you using an external microphone, or the built-in microphone that your Mac has?

When you record audio with other apps, such as the Voice Memos app, do you notice any similar issues? This last article can help you get started with Voice Memos:

We hope that the information in our reply helps you get started on finding a solution. Please let us know if we can help you further with this.

Cheers!

Thank you for replying back here, Punchydude. We are glad to hear that your Mac’s microphone appears to be working normally with other applications at this time.

To continue from here, we’d like to rule out any software that could be causing this problem in Keynote. To continue, can you tell us if you experience this issue in every Keynote presentation that you create? If you create a new presentation to test with now, does the same problem show up?

We’d also like to be sure that you have the latest version of macOS and Keynote installed for your Mac. Please review the following Apple Support articles for instructions on how to back up and update your Mac:

Please reply back here to continue.

Cheers!
