M1 mac mini with two identical monitors having different resolutions
I have two ASUS PA279 monitors connected to the MacMini vis Thunderbolt and HDMI but I can't get them to have the same resolution. Any tricks that I am not aware of?

You didn’t say which one is defaulting to the lower resolution?
If it is the one connected to HDMI and you are using the factory ASUS cable, try getting and using a short Premium Certified HDMI cable.
Under the 'Scaled' display selection I get :
TB-USBC
1) 1504x846
2) 1920x1080
3) 2560x1440
4) 3008x1692
5) 3840x2160
HDMI
1) 1152x648
2) 1504x846
3) 1920x1080
4) 2560x1440
5) 3840x2160
For some reason HDMI is missing 3008x1692 which I want to use. Right now I am forced to use 3840x2160 which is too small for my eyes. For photos and videos this is great. Any way I can use 3008x1692 for HDMI too? Thanks in advance for you guys' help.
I would follow den.thed's advice. If nothing changes, consider SwitchresX for managing custom display resolutions and many other features. I'm using it since years and it's fast, reliable and problem-less. M1 compatible, also.
Downloaded SwitchresX and paid US$16 and everything solved. I found an even better resolution 3360x1890 which i can use for both monitors.
Thanks majortom1967 and den.thed for your help and advice. Appriciated it.
Yea’ I wasn’t sure if you had tried that or not.
Besides testing a different Premium Certified HDMI cable as suggested.
I would also be tempted to test both displays on HDMI using a USB-C to HDMI adapter and matching HDMI cables.
What resolution are you having via hdmi and what res via tb (usb-c)? They suppose to be both 2560x1440, isn't it?
Try holding the Alt (option) key and clicking on the Scaled button for each display.
I tried this already but the same selection remains.
Nice to hear!
I'm glad to hear you found a solution.
👍 Good work majortom1967
Tnx!
