Thanks for that. If I'm understanding the situation correctly, you've tried starting up from macOS Recovery, but when you run the macOS installer (the "Install/Reinstall macOS" option), it doesn't see anywhere that it can install to.

If that's the case, complete these steps to describe your disk layout and system version. This info helps me to provide the steps needed to resolve your issue:

  1. Start up from macOS Recovery.
  2. If you're prompted for an admin password, enter it to continue.
  3. At the top of the screen, select Utilities -> Terminal.
  4. Type this command and hit Enter (Return): sw_vers
  5. Write down the system version shown by Terminal.
  6. Type this command and hit Enter (Return): diskutil list
  7. Post the results here, along with the system version.

To copy the text given by Terminal and post it here:

  1. Select all of the text in the Terminal window.
  2. Press Command-C to copy the text.
  3. Quit Terminal and open Safari.
  4. Sign into Apple Support Communities and open this discussion.
  5. In the reply box, press Command-V to paste the text you copied earlier.
