iPhone Camera Flickering

I know this post is older but I was able to figure this problem out. In the camera settings turn off "Auto Macro" at the bottom of the screen. That setting automatically switches to the Ultra Wide Camera to capture Macro Photos so it will make that jumping effect if it's turned on and something comes close to frame.

Then make an appointment to have your phone examined:

as it sounds like there could be a failure in your optical stabilization mechanism, as switching between ultra wide and wide lenses is silent, so regardless of whether it the lens switching is occurring you should not hear anything.

If you are seeing "flicker" because your camera is switching between the wide and ultra wide lenses in Auto Macro mode, shutting it off will solve the issue.

If you are seeing "flicker" because the frame rate of an LED or fluorescent light interferes with the shutter rate, you can only avoid that by changing the exposure.

this is definitely a result of the camera switching to macro mode. My iPhone 11 Pro used to never do this, and now I have the iPhone 13 Pro. It didn’t do this in the beginning, but with one of the new updates it has started doing this and it drives me insane because it ruins the picture and lighting quality and will happen randomly in the middle of a video that I do a lot for work. I just noticed this new feature in the camera settings hopefully this answers your question! It gives you control over whether or not to activate the macro camera (The flower glows yellow if the Macro camera is turned on, that is when I see the worst quality on my phone camera)

As of iOS 15.2:

1. Go to Settings -> Camera
2. Enable "Macro Control"
3. When in Camera mode, tap the Macro symbol when close to an object so shut auto macro lens switching off

Yes, the Macro Control will control the automatic switching, but my ultra wide lens gives me wonderful quality photos and video.

If your ultra-wide lens truly gives you horrible results, you may want to have your phone examined:

My iphone 13 pro max also has flickering issue only while launching camera app from home screen while launching camera from lock screen and control center does not flicker at launch. no fix yet it might be software issue , hope so next update will resolve this issue.

Following this feed. I just got my iphone 13 pro and loaded it 2 days ago, so I tested taking video and don't have a problem. Where I am having problems is watching videos that others send to me through PM or text msg.

during filming certain things, such as a tv screen, the video keeps flickering. it appears the night mode is continuously turning on and off despite my previous attempts to turn it off for the shot. it would be nice if there was a more specific setting to disable /enable night mode in the settings app for a more permanent solution

You're welcome. Maybe next time, instead of guns blazing, simply ask if there is way to stop the camera jumping. There is and it's very simple.

This is horrible it’s ruined so many of my videos is there any solution to this or is Apple going to come out with “another” fix? Is there any short term solution aside from not using cinematic mode? Thanks

my iPhone 13 pro has horrible camera jump during videos - Apple, this is awful! No one wants a video that jumps from one camera to the other and makes it look like a glitch during recording! This is a very common problem - for a phone that costs this much, I’d rather use my XS with smooth videos than a clear jumpy camera.
