Audio options in Apple Maps

Prior to the iOS15 update, maps would allow you to change how spoken directions are communicated: either via the device, bluetooth (if connected to one), or no audio. With iOS15, there seems to no longer be an option to have audio directions communicated via the phone speaker while staying connected to whatever BT devices it is connected to. I know it has a radio interruption function, but that just isn't ideal for my vehicle. Any chance there is either a fix or bypass? Hope this question makes sense.

Not the original poster but have the same issue.

The option to change audio source was on the iPhone in the Maps app. There were six menu options before, one of them being audio options, and you could select the audio source for spoken directions if your phone was connected to a car via Bluetooth, so you could set the directions to come from the phone or to come from the car speakers. This is one of the options that is now gone, and it defaults to the car speakers option if it exists, which is not desirable.

Hi there HavensJM,

Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities. We'd like to know more so we can help out. Things you can do while following a route in Maps on iPhone goes over the options for controlling audio in the Maps app.

If that doesn't help, reply with where you were able to see the options you mentioned before updating your iPhone. Was it on the iPhone itself, or did you manage that setting with your car's system?

Take care.
