Front light on my Apple TV is blinking fast. Says to connect to USB and update but won't react to Apple remote

Asking me to update but does not react to the remote commands.

That message is telling you that the Apple TV is unresponsive and asking you to connect to your computer to restore.


If you are using a 3rd gen, as indicated, then you will need a micro USB cable. Make sure to disconnect from power and HDMi first and then after connecting via USB reconnect the power. On current Macs you will use the finder to run the restore, if using an older Mac or OS version then you will use iTunes.
