iOS 15.0.1. download problems

I had the same issue when upgrading via WiFi with an iPad Pro 9,7 128 GB and an iPad Pro 10,5 256GB - both stuck in verifying.

I detached the pads from power cable (to prevent maintenance mode) and pressed Startbutton and Homebutton at once until the Apple appeared and released the buttons - so the Pads got restarted and fell back to old IOS 15. Then i did upgrade via Itunes to 15.0.1 on PC which worked.

For days, I struggled with my iPad hanging on 'Verifying…' or 'Installing…,' with the update failing to install.

Finally decided to try plugging it in to my Macbook Pro. I opened the Music application, found the iPad listed there under 'Devices,' and after it synced, I clicked on 'Sync Settings…'

An update was available there and eventually installed successfully. Glad it's finally done, but I don't know why that should have worked. In any case, am glad to be rid of the red badge on the Settings app.

Solution: Insert a SIM card and the update will work.

I tried EVERYTHING alese about 50 times, it did not work. Update via iTunes, erasing update from the settings and re-download, even a complete reset did NOT help!

I had the same issue with my iPad Air 4th generation and all I did was hold the power button and once it gave me a few options (I just hit Continue at the bottom) then it gave me the option to install the update

I had the same issue: reset iPad Pro to new unit because of failure to charge issue. After reading thru this forum I reset again without backup as new unit, updated to iOS 15.0.1 . No issues experienced since.

The SIM card thing sounds interesting. I ended up updating via macOS. But I got a 4000 error. Then I disabled my passcode and tried again and it worked!

I used the SIM from my phone and plugged it in, Update work fine. Must be something to do with WiFi

Once the 15.0.1 was installed with iTunes PC APP, the 15.0.2 via OTA fails again.

iPad get stuck in “verifying update”.

Now with one SIM inserted, the update runs.

That's how I did after talking to support (with Apple Configurator). That worked too (just plug and update, no Recovery Mode).

I have completely erased and reset my iPad Pro (12.9-inch) (2nd generation) to factory settings, clean installation with no data transferred and I still canning upgrade to iPadOS 15.0.1?

Obviously there’s a major issue with this upgrade, suggest not trying to install until the problem is resolved!

I have been trying to update an early iPadPro for several hours. Download is successful but I get "update failed, retry or try again later" error box. For those of us with non-cellular iPads, the SIM card work-around is useless, of course. First thing I will try next will be attaching the iPad to my Mac and using its desktop presence to attempt to run the updates. Might as well back it up again while it's there.

Try disabling the passcode if you get a 4000 error. on your iPad and then updating. It worked for me and then I just re-enabled it after the update.

i'm here with the same issue, seems more widespread than i thought. My iphone 12 pro updated without any issue. My iPad pro 256GB (cellular) just sits on installing, tried both wifi and then followed the support advice to use my pc. When using my PC i get unknown error 4000.

looks like i shall sit on iOS15 for a while until this has been fixed by apple.

This does indeed work but as i have found out, you now need to do this every time there is an update to IOS in order to keep updated - i think Apple needs to look into this and address as there are now iPad owners out there outside of warranty that the IOS15 update has really impacted functionality and having to DFU/iTunes/Configurator just to apply an update each time is really not acceptable.

Downloading failed once on my 12.9 2nd Gen but completed after a reboot. Verified ok. Came back 2 hours later to installing… Have >50GB free so unlikely to be a space problem. Something is clearly upset. Will try iTunes but this maybe a time I sit on the fence. iPhone 8+Updated with no issue.
