I used to play the voice memos without changing the settings of the screen auto-lock feature. Since the iOS 15 update, any time the screen is locked, the voice memo playback stops. It’s very annoying that to play back a class, I have to change my screen auto lock settings for the hour and then remember to change it back. Is anyone else having this problem? Any fixes?

Voice memo recording and listening through iMessage is suboptimal and I have found a few ways to work around the major pitfalls including the frustrating feature that cuts off a recording when your screen auto locks. The best option is actually to just switch to WhatsApp because the voice memo sharing features there are superior and will play through auto lock and will continue playing when you switch apps.
For long voice memos:
1) If you press and hold on a memo sent by someone else, it will expand the dialogue box and if you press on the waveform graphic it will start playing the memo in a large dialogue box. From here, download the note to your files and then locate the file and play it - the playing memo will override screen lock from here.
2) When recording, I suggest using the "Voice Memos" app and then sending the recording as a file, rather than sending a voice memo within the iMessage app.
I’m having same problem with voice memo turning off when screen locks. This didn’t happen before and is a big problem for me. Apple needs to fix this!
This is exactly why Apple has lost its way. I bought the second iPhone apple made and I have kept one ever since. I loved the simplicity. Since Steve Jobs died, it’s been a steady downhill on the simplicity of their products. Instead of just building an option into whatever software they are building, Apple decides what’s best for their users with no way to toggle it, and then they try to push them into buying new services/products, etc. I play in a band, and we use the voice memo recorder to record new songs as we work through them. I use hit play and go, not working if my phone was going to auto lock, because it kept playing my recording. I don’t have problems with it stopping the recoding when it auto locks, but it does stop playback. The fact that the Apple support doesn’t actually address the OP question (which was about playback) and discusses recording issues means that Apple doesn’t care, or they don’t actually hire people at all. And I almost felt warm and fuzzy at the “we’d like to help!” But they can’t because some engineer made a bad decision about something they never use. Frustrating!
This is extremely annoying and even more so when you realize after an hour long meeting you were recording, that you forgot to go in and change the settings so the recording won’t stop. Come on Apple. Amazing how you guys so call fix issues that were never broken in the first place. You need to issue an update to change that back to its previous function. Would be super helpful.
the main problem for me is through whatsapp . Should I try uninstall and reinstall this app?
