extends the warranty out 2 more years therefor 3 years in total with the option to extend it further.

I would not buy a mac today with out factoring in the AppleCare+

If you have AppleCare+ it will cover a large portion of accidental damage.

AppleCare PLUS also covers up to two incidents of display glass breakage, water spills, and catastrophic damage, for a much more modest co-pay than the full cost of those repairs.

BUT: you must buy it with 60 days of your Mac initial delivery.
