Can you use widget smith app on iPad? How?

It does not work with the ipad. I read the article on apple.com explaining widgets are different on ipad but I still can not add customer widgets like I can on my phone.
if you know how to please leave step by step detail. Presently I am only able to add widgets of the apps i have on my phone. I want custom widgets which will be pictures not apps.
