My younger brother locked out our ipad and all of our photos of him as a baby disappeared we now are wondering is there any way to recover the photos this happened a couple of years ago but we have tried to find the photos in icloud but couldn’t is them.

If the photos were deleted, they were moved to the recently deleted folder. After 30 days, or earlier if you manually delete, those items are deleted forever.
If the iPad was locked and then reset to gain access, everything would have been deleted from the iPad.
If you did not make a backup of the device to a computer, there will be no way to recover images -- even if you did back up, it's been years.
It's important to backup your devices and files. A good backup plan is to have 3 copies, made 2 different ways, and to keep 1 copy offsite.

Hello ~ I am sorry to hear about the pictures. The post by *muguy* covers this situation thoroughly. I would like to ask if it is possible that the pictures may have been saved elsewhere like Google or even shared with other friends or family members? For future pictures…you may want to take a look at the iXpand flash drive it makes storing pictures from your Apple devices easy.

P.S. I'd check with family or others with whom you may have shared pictures. Maybe you can get some back.
