does not appear to be a valid OS installer application.

I have formatted my iMac and now I can't start it anymore. I get a symbol with a globe and a connection to the internet but nothing happens. I tried to create a bootable macOS Catalina on an USB drive like suggested on the Apple support site https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT201372

But I get the following message in the terminal window all the time:

/Applications/Install macOS Catalina.app does not appear to be a valid OS installer application.

Can anyone help me please ?

I'd suspect a flawed USB drive.

I've always found it a whole lot easier to use Install Disk Creator app. Very simple. pick out a destination drive, choose the installer app and press go or start or whatever intimates the process.
