New Mac mini - Thunderbolt

I have my new Mac mini up and running but none of my peripherals have Thunderbolt connections.

Any suggestions for a portable drive (for Time Machine) that would match the T'bolt speed for data transfer?

Would a T'bolt x 2 USB splitter or similar still be restricted by the USB speed?

Thanks,

Older USB-A External Drives will run at there normal speed when connected to a USB-C to USB-A adapter or USB-C to USB-A hub.

Time Machine will work fine on a slower USB-A External Drive connected to the new Mac Mini.

If you want to look at some faster USB-C / TB Drives, OWC has a good selection.
