External Monitor and MacBook Pro

Should I unplug my USB-C to HDMI cable from my MacBook Pro while I’m not using it? Cuz The HDMI port still remains hot even when I put my MacBook to sleep and turn off the external monitor power while leaving the cable plugged with the monitor and MacBook. Just not sure if it’s safe. The cable I’m using is Anker A8730 6ft Type C to HDMI Adapter Cable 4K 60Hz [Thunderbolt 3 Compatible].

this article concerning the comparable Apple adapter has this warning:

Because this adapter draws power from your Mac or iPad Pro even when your Mac or iPad Pro is asleep, you might want to unplug it when it's not also connected to power for charging.
