Mail search terms also showing in Firefox? Suspicious?

I entered a search term in Apple Mail, and the search worked. So far all as expected. I then switched to Firefox where I had the search field open (for an unrelated search), but the search term I'd put into mail was showing in Firefox. This is very strange and somewhat concerning. How is a search term from Mail getting into Firefox (and no I didn't copy/paste). Should I be worried about this?

PS the wrong device is showing with this post - I'm on a 13" Macbook Pro, M1 Chip, running Big Sur

Many of the "search" fields are intertwined. I have no idea why Apple decided to do that, but it has been around for a while.

I rarely have a need to search the same phrase in unrelated applications, but someone thought it was a good enough idea to bake it into the OS. I haven't noticed it much, lately, so perhaps they're getting rid of it.
