this is dreadful that you cant mute the sound when you hit the mute button. Please fix immediately and just put it in sound & haptics under settings.
Please tell microsoft teams to do the same thing with their mute button. This is why i never update until a year later but had to get the new iphone that already had IOS 15
One of the most annoying features I’ve ever experienced. I can’t believe anyone would think it was a good idea not to provide a disable option. I have to mute and unmute client sessions often and it’s very distracting. Been with iPhone forever, but will 100% have to get an android, at least for some calls, if disable isn’t made an option.
Who thought this feature was a good idea? I should’ve never upgraded my phone! Things like this makes me switch back to the Samsung. This is awful! And the fact that I’ve spent hours searching for a solution only to get the “new feature” response and cannot be disabled is sad
I'm not stopping you from doing anything. As I stated in my post, I'm a user like you. Apple does not participate here, and I provided the only way for you to let Apple know you don't like that sound.
Well, it’s almost December and this atrocity of a “feature” still seems to be something users can’t turn off. Luckily I backed up my phone before downgrading to iOS 15.1 so can just burn some time reverting until this gets sorted.
Just an insanely malicious and user-unfriendly design choice.... what on earth possessed anyone to think this was a good idea. Hopefully Apple fixes this in next release before I have to throw my phone into the river
This is unexpected there should be a way to turn it off. If you want to make this change then give us a way to turn it off. I use to be a apple fan now you lost another customer. I will not be getting any new apple products. I'm done.
I'm one of the early posters on this thread. Yesterday a co-worker alerted me that there is a limited workaround if you are dialing into zoom but it requires you have a decent wifi/data connection: in the zoom ios app, go to settings->general and turn off "use CallKit to receive calls when not on zoom". Then, instead of using the iOS phone app to call into a zoom meeting (or have the zoom app "call me" at your phone number), you need to join the meeting via the ios zoom app and then say "use cellular or wifi". Then you will use the zoom app screen to mute/unmute and there is no beep. To me, this is a real PITA as now I have to join both from my Mac plus the zoom iOS app so it will look like I've joined twice, but for a call where I know I will be muting/unmuting often, it will save me a headache. And I've had many headaches since upgrading to ios15 thanks to this ridiculous feature.
Just a reminder to anyone reading this, please file a complaint using the apple feedback link mentioned throughout this thread -that is the only way Apple will know that you want this fixed. All we can do here on this thread is vent and offer workarounds and updates.
The only way around this that I have found is when using WebEx, there is a double-mute feature. You can call into conference calls and leave your iPhone unmuted, then mute yourself on the WebEx side. Realize this only helps if your company uses WebEx. I absolutely hate this iPhone feature as well.
I absolutely agree – a beep sound when muting or unmuting defeats the whole purpose of having a mute. I mute because I am trying to eliminate background noise., and it is annoying and distracting to have a conversation punctuated by dozens of beeps. I also agree that this is bad enough to consider switching to android.

that annoying disruptive beep sound when using mute should be a simple fix :with the option of turning it off in settings please Apple do this in a software update soon!
Apple doesn't read here for suggestions (something you'd know if you actually read the thread before posting in it).
Use the feedback link given above to let them know your thoughts.
So I’ve been iOS 15 for a while, but for some reason this mute sound just magically started. I’m using my phone for work calls, and I’m constantly toggling mute. Hearing a beep every time I mute is so unweeded. The inability to disable the sound is just dumb.
It is extremely rude of apple to add a mute/unmute sound. This new setting of ios15 really makes things awkward for me. Immediately update to allow users to turn off the mute/unmute sound. We should have a right to choose.
Not sure the point of that comment. People here aren’t upset they added the beep, we’re upset there’s no way to selectively turn the feature off. Which would mean not just YOU are happy (cause you can leave it on), but also everyone who doesn’t think like YOU are also happy, cause we can turn it off. Everyone wins, takes minimal effort from Apple developers.
Thanks for the reply, but that is exceptionally poor design. Just a baffling choice. I'll use that feedback form right now.
