Perhaps I wasn't clear enough.
Use iTunes to look at the Device/Photos tab. Do not use Window Explorer.
If they're pictures that you added to the iPod from your computer, you need to connect the iPod to your iTunes Library and de-select the photos folder that you previously added. It'll be found on the Device/Photos tab.
If they're photos taken by your iPod, or screenshots, taken on the iPod, there should be a delete option on the iPod itself.
If they were synced on they will have to be synced off. Connect your ipod to your computer and, in iTunes, look under the various tabs, perhaps even an info tab (it has been called different things over the years) until you can find where you sync the photos.
Beyond that your only other way is to wipe the ipod, erasing it back to factory specs and start all over.
That’s what I had to do one time, sync an empty folder to get rid of the photos.
and I decided to never sync photos onto the device again, just to avoid the issue in the future.
They do not show up on my connected computer under any title. At one time they were downloaded from the computer to the iPod but that directory has disappeared.
Yes that finally deleted them by syncing to an empty folder. thanks
